To create dynamic exchanges that benefit both industry and academia, the Amsterdam People Analytics Centre (APAC) offers four types of collaborations with organisations. Depending on your needs and preferences, it is possible to collaborate in one or more domains. For research-oriented collaborations, we offer data-driven projects as well as advisory and contract research. For teaching-oriented collaborations, we work together on in-company training as well as guest lectures and teaching cases.
Do you have a pressing business question with data available, or opportunities for data collection? Our data-based research partnerships are designed to transform your data into powerful insights through high-quality research. After assessing the eligibility of your data for meaningful research, we apply rigorous, innovative analyses to uncover trends and patterns directly relevant to your business questions. Based on the scale of the questions, we can also involve our well-trained thesis students, who bring fresh academic perspectives by conducting in-depth research and writing their theses within your organisation, under supervision of one of our APAC team members.
Our research partnerships are mutually beneficial: while you receive practical insights grounded in rigorous research, we gain the opportunity to advance theoretical understanding in the field of people analytics and HRM. One example of a recent collaboration would be our collaboration with Crunchr Workforce Analytics on analytics adoption in the workplace. By analysing user data provided by Crunchr, we discover distinct user profiles: different groups of people with different analytics adoption behaviour. This project culminated in a published research paper in the Journal of Organizational Effectiveness: People and Performance, along with practical insights for Crunchr on enhancing PA technology adoption within organisations.
Beyond data-based research projects, we also offer on-demand paid advisory services and contract research to address specific business challenges. Our APAC experts can provide targeted solutions across a wide range of people analytics topics—such as recruitment, HRM system design, talent retention, and AI—empowering you to make strategic, evidence-based decisions tailored to your organisation’s unique needs.
We offer customised in-company training programmes in people analytics and data-driven decision-making, tailored to the unique challenges and objectives of each organisation. These sessions are built around well-grounded insights from research in combination with cases to provide professionals with hands-on experience in applying analytics within their day-to-day roles. Our training offering is broad and ranges from building technical skills to building a data driven culture, all designed to help to empower teams to make data-informed decisions with confidence and precision. In-company trainings will be customised and can vary in focus to meet your specific needs and situation. For more information on the modules and topics that we offer, please get in touch with us!
We also actively invite industry partners to give guest lectures and to offer cases in our courses. This partnership offers students a unique chance to engage with professionals directly, combining their theoretical foundations in people analytics with practical, real-world insights. For instance, in our bachelor’s and master’s courses, esteemed guest speakers like Brydie Lear (Expedia) and Mart Fontaine (KLM) share their expertise on building effective people analytics functions, driving business impact, and strategic workforce planning. In our master’s and MBA courses, we integrate teaching cases developed in collaboration with companies like Crunchr (on retention and diversity) and ING (on gender pay gap). Students are provided with datasets, case materials, and specific research questions to tackle in groups. These group projects culminate in presentations to organisations, where students showcase their findings and solutions. This approach allows students to dive deeply with issues relevant to your organisation while positioning you as an active contributor to shaping the next generation of talent.
